Water capillary mat is a system of thin tubes characterized by a small internal diameter, in which the liquid moves. This process is slow, based on the phenomenon of capillary flow, which translates into an even distribution of temperature over the entire surface. This is one of the reasons why heating and cooling is so effective.
In terms of technical details of construction, the tubes are made of a special, high-temperature resistant plastic – in most cases it is polypropylene. Their internal diameter is around 3 mm and they create a dense network with gaps of only 10 mm. This construction means that 1 square meter of water capillary mat can contain tubes with a total length of up to 100 m.
The main reason is the extraordinary density of the network of tubes that make up each mat. This is a huge surface that gives off heat, which also heats up evenly, making capillary heating much more efficient than classic floor heating.
